JAPANESE

I am a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo.

Recently, I received a Top Scholar Award in Japanese in the NZ Scholarship Examinations.

I can teach students at all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students who wish to improve their fluency through speaking practice. I can also proofread homework and assignments by email or in person.

I am currently studying two languages at university level, so I know exactly what learning a foreign language is like.

LAW

I have recently successfully completed LAW 121G at the University of Auckland.

I have a lot of useful notes that I made in preparation for the test and the exam which students would have access to (I did this paper in 2010 with the new order of lectures so I would be able to give up-to-date advice for the test). I also have lecture recordings and textbooks.

I have been his student since Form 5 in ESOL, then he helped me on my various math assignments in my university first year. I love his clearn explanation of concepts and he is always patient with my questions. Although I do not have his tuition anymore, we always keep in touch because we are good friends.

Description:
Hi my name is Hayden Needs. I've been learning Japanese for more than five years, and I would like to tutor in high school (up to NCEA Level 3/ Scholarship) Japanese.

I'm a first year university student, but I'm taking third year Japanese. I passed Level One of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (the hardest level) last year.

Our goal for the year will be for the student to pass all of their Japanese achievement standards with Merit or Excellence.

The lessons will include:
-Going through the student’s textbook
-Attempting questions from past NCEA papers
-Kanji practice/ testing
-Explaining grammar points

We’ll also be able to utilise anything that’s available on the net. That is: Japanese web pages, J-pop songs and lyrics, manga, anime, and Japanese podcasts...whatever you like!

Of course, I can also give advice on the other NCEA subjects I took.

I’m more than happy to tutor during weekends as well as weekdays.
I live in the Burwood area.
