I am an academic and professional chemist. I've studied chemistry and used it in day to day work life, so I know what works and doesn't.

I like to explain things in day to day language, making otherwise complicated concepts easier to grasp.

I am a qualified primary school teacher with 5+ years experience in NZ and 1 years experience in the UK. I have taught from kindergarten age to Year 8 in a variety of curriculum areas. At present I teach Year 5/6 in a central Auckland primary school. I also have provided one-to-one tutoring to children in previous years as I have 2 children this year. I am able to provide references if needed.

Description:
I have a Bachelor's degree in Education from Auckland University with my speciality subjects being literacy (reading, writing) and mathematics. Because I am currently teaching I am up to date with the latest developments in education, including the newly introduced National Standards.

I always assess the children I tutor in my first session in the areas that the parent or caregiver has identified (curriculum or skills areas). My further sessions are then based on what needs are identified in these assessments.

I have my own resources for tutoring but at times and normally supply a book for the children to write in for a record for parents. I also may require children to do follow up activities before the next session but these are normally only short 10-20 minute activities (depending on the age of the student).

I normally tutor at the house of the student but can tutor at my own residence if necessary.
