I have just shifted to between Paeroa and Thames, but I come to Hamilton about once a fortnight so I could usually do a session on a Wednesday or perhaps a Thursday afternoon. I charge $30 an hour in Hamilton if I am already there. I charge $40 per hour if I have to travel far e.g. 20 mins plus to get to you. I will charge more if I have to become familiar with literature for NCEA and help you with assignments between tutoring sessions.

Hi there,
I have a lot of experience tutoring maths and physics to high school students of all levels in NZ, and have helped out approx 30 students over the last few years with preparing for their end of year exams. I sat both NCEA and scholarship (gaining 5 scholarships), so I am familiar with how this system works. I also worked as a tutor at Auckland university last year, where I tutored and graded a first year math paper, and am able to assist with most university level mathematics also.
At the end of high school, I gained admission to Princeton University in the USA (where I am completing a math degree), so I am also available to help anyone with USA college admissions, in particular with preparation for SAT exams.
While in High School, I also twice represented NZ at the International Math Olympiad (the world's toughest math competition) so I would enjoy helping out anyone interested in improving their problem solving skills, particularly students aiming to make the NZIMO team or do well on other math competitions.

Description:
I am a friendly, patient, easy-to-get-along-with tutor. I am currently completing an undergraduate degree in Maths at Princeton University in the US, but am taking time off to gain some work experience. While at high school in NZ I passed NCEA Scholarship exams in Calculus, statistics, physics, economics and French, so am available to tutor these subjects at High school level. I can also tutor Maths to first/second year university level and beyond.

Up until the end of 2004 I was an experienced primary and secondary school teacher with an M.A. in English Literature and a Diploma in Teaching. I have been involved with computers for 15 years and have mentored and tutored students in computer and software knowledge in primary and intermediate schools, and rebuilt and repaired computers for schools and individuals. I am at present studying toward a Certificate in TESOL. I live in Conifer Grove in South Auckland, and can tutor some students at my home. I am willing to tutor at the Papakura or Manurewa Public Library if that is more appropriate for the student. I can tutor at the student's home, and there may be a fee for my transport costs for that. My main method of tutoring is first to pretest the student to find their strengths and areas needing assistance. I will also tutor according to a student's expressed desire. I will do a post test after a unit of teaching to assure that the student has mastered the required skills.
